South African Citrus Exports to China Decrease

South African citrus exports to China have declined year to date. Particularly notable is decline in shipments of Navel Oranges of some 60%. Most of the reduction is likely due to re-direction of fruit to meet increased demand in other markets, especially Europe, because of the perceived health benefits of citrus during the Pandemic. The table below shows container volumes exported to China from South Africa up to the end of Week 30 (26 July 2020).
