Leading Cherry Grower Wandin Valley Farms Expands Cherry Production

On 27 October, leading Australian cherry growers, Wandin Valley Farms (WVF) opened their new state of the art packing facility in Wandin, with production lines capable of processing more than 500 bins of cherries per day.

This sixth-generation family company have shown further confidence in the future of the Australian cherry industry by investing in 150 hectares of new orchards this season and now deliver the longest continuous cherry supply period in Australia, from the end of October to late January.

Production Manager, Paris Jones, said installation of the latest optical sorting and packing technology in the packing shed offered maximum speed and flexibility - whether packing punnets for local supermarkets or gift boxes for export customers before Chinese New Year - with all customers getting fruit as fresh as possible and Asian consumers receiving the cherries within three days of picking.
