14 October 2020

According to an article in China’s fruit press, in the period January to May 2020, Chinese grape imports were 227,000 tons with Chile sending the highest volumes (105,000 tons), Australia second (58,000 tons), Peru third in that period (49,000 tons) and South Africa fourth (11,000 tons). China imported 250,000 tons of grapes in the whole of 2019.

Reports in the article suggest a significant shift in buying patterns to seedless grapes with new varieties such as Autumn Crisp and Sweet Sapphire gaining a good market in China.
